About Me
Hello!
I'm James (Jamie) Hussey, a senior backend developer based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Originally from the UK, I've called Sweden home since 2010.
With over 6 years of modern development experience—plus a deeper technical background spanning nearly two decades—I build the infrastructure that makes AI work in production. I specialize in Java and .NET ecosystems, event-driven architecture, and integrating AI capabilities into enterprise systems.
My Journey
My path to professional development wasn't traditional. I got my first taste of software engineering working in a bank, supporting Automated Teller Machines—troubleshooting systems where reliability wasn't optional and downtime meant real consequences. That experience sparked my interest in how software and hardware work together, and taught me the importance of building systems people can depend on.
Before transitioning fully to software engineering, I also ran my own IT business—another chapter that shaped how I think about solving problems and delivering for clients.
Since then, I've worked across consulting, startups, and enterprise environments. I founded Jobtrawl.se, built event-driven booking systems at Etraveli Group, and developed a growing expertise in what's now called context engineering—ensuring AI systems have the right data and business logic to deliver real value.
